Hello Again!

So after completely abandoning my blog for about two years, I was randomly surfing tonight and thought..hmm I wonder what happened to my blog? Thus here I am!! Hello internet and fellow bloggers! I wish I could say I missed you..but I'd be lying, although I do feel a bit guilty for abandoning you. So there are an incredible number of things that have changed in the time I've been gone. First of all, my brother was sentenced and went to prison, and now he's out again. I moved out of my fiancee's parent's house because I'm no longer engaged to him. I moved in with my local orthodox rabbi, have been living there almost a year, and oh yeah I'm becoming an orthodox jew. Hmm is there anything else? Oh yes! I reestablished contact with my parents after 2 years of not speaking and now I speak to them on a fairly regular basis, though we have a pretty difficult relationship. Also, I've decided to transfer from my current university at the end of this year. This may be a lot of info for you to digest. I suggest reading one sentence at a time. I'm wearing wish upon a star pjs right now! Hmm that's all I can think of to shock you right now, I'll be back :)

Justice

So this week I'll be meeting with my assistant District Attorney to figure out what kind of sentence/plea bargain my brother will come out with. I have to admit it's hanging a bit heavy on me that in a matter of days this whole process might be over with, and that I'll have made a decision that will impact my brother for the rest of his life. I started my new catering job last week, a lot better than my last one, the employees are friendlier and I don't think I'll have to deal with the same type of politics. I also started practicing my driving again today. My Uncle is teaching me, and he has a commercial license, was a driving instructor for the DMV, and drove a Harley for forty years, I think I'll learn a lot!

Summer is Finally Here!

Yes, I know I haven't written in a while, but blogspot popped up when I was surfing the web today and I felt guilty enough to start a post. I finished the year, not with the best grades...but it's done and I think I'm finally getting some control over my life. This year I've let circumstances rule my life, and I'm finally pulling myself out of it. My knitting has improved remarkably, and overall I'm just feeling great!

Doggies!

It's strange that I'm saying this on a blog, but bad writing drives me crazy. Even more being forced to listen to bad writing. It makes me want to slam things into other things and duct tape the perpetrator of this crime. Considering the aforementioned person is my roommate and friend, I don't think either of these appealing options are applicable. Ok, I am done with my short rant...I think. Not much has happened this week, my fiance might be coming to visit next weekend, however being that he is in the Coast Guard, he has to get lots of signatures in time to leave and visit. Both him and I are exhausted by this method, there are lots of ifs, ands, and buts. If they sign everything, If they sign it in time for him to actually leave. If these things don't happen he will have to start the whole process again. I don't usually complain about the long distance, or the Coast Guard, but I haven't seen my love since the middle of december, and even then it was only for a few days. The longer we are long distance, the harder it gets. One would think it gets easier, but the time just moves slower and slower as time goes on. Not to mention this has been an extremely shitty year, which you know if you have read any of my other self-pitying posts, and at some point it helps to have that crucial person when everything else is falling to pieces. Anyway, sorry about the complaints, on the bright side, I did play with two extremely cute St. Bernard puppies today. There's nothing like a good face washing to make you feel happy all over. Yep, saying that I love dogs is a bit of an understatement. Have a good week! And remember to do that one thing that makes you smile no matter what.

Brrrrr...

It's cold here in Oswego, but the snow doesn't actually settle, it just sort of blows in your face. Anyway, I'm back at school, hard at work, nose to grindstone. Last week I got notice that the Grand Jury had made a decision, and a warrant is out for my brother's arrest. My initial reaction was unexpectedly extreme. I felt an overwhelming amount of guilt for breaking up my family. Though logically none of this is my fault, I cried for a good hour, I'm sending my brother to jail. Yes, he did rape me, but isn't something still lost? Is it normal to feel guilty for sending the person who did about the worst thing you can do to another person without killing them to jail?

On a slightly lighter note, I've been pretty sick. Earlier this week I puked my brains out. However at the time, I was in bed, and my bed is lofted, I knew I wouldn't be able to get to a trash can in time, so I ended up puking all over my pillows, sheets, and all the blankets I own.

Wait, it gets better.
Anxious to clean up the mess, me and and my roommate rolled up everything and carried it all down to the laundry room. It took forever to stuff it all into the washers, finally we finished and set everything on hot with lots of soap. It wasn't until we got back upstairs I realized my cell had been underneath my pillow. Which lead to 10 minutes of sifting of hot puke soup for my cell phone. After of a week of drying out my phone in a bag full of rice, my phone definately isn't functional. Did I mention that this is the phone my wonderful fiance's parents got for me so I didn't have to deal with using a phone connected to my parents? All in all, the story is pretty funny...the farther I get from it the easier it is to laugh. Anyway, have a good day!

I really wanted to have something cheerful to say today, but sadly the only thing worth noting today is still leaving me shaking in anger.

I haven't been on speaking terms with my mother since I ran away, and lately she's been calling the house, sending me emails, and calling my aunt and uncle cause she misses me. However when I spoke with my aunt and uncle today about it, they told me that she said "I don't know why she's bringing it up now, it was so long ago." For those of you who have been reading (two) you know that the "it" my mother referred to was my rape by my brother. Now I'm not sure how anyone else would take this remark, but it left me in a blistering rage. Why? Because I still held the (foolish) expectation that my mother would support me, or try to understand, instead it seems she thinks I should forgive and forget the unforgivable. I guess what it so surprising, is that no matter how low I leave my expectations so that they won't be crushed, my mother still manages.

On the bright side, I made some delicious brownies today. I bake, clean, or resort to violence when I'm upset. Anyway, I got a nice chocolate fix, and some cornbread and chili on top of it! Mmmm

Dark Bittersweet Chocolate

Today I testified to a Grand Jury. This meant I related the most intimate details of my life in explicit detail to people I'd never met. It wasn't as bad as a trial, just myself, the prosecutor, the foreman(representative of the Grand Jury), a stenographer, and twenty people I'd never met before in my life.

As I sat there looking at the jurors, just as they were looking at me, I couldn't help noticing how they were from all walks of life. A young woman my own age, probably a student, another young man, a fatherly type directly in the center of the room, and several jurors the age of grandparents. I tried to put myself in their shoes, listening to the testimony of a young woman who had been mistreated in so many ways. I wondered what they thought of me, how did I look to them?

I felt fine, and the time almost flew by. Suddenly halfway through the day, I got this terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, and it won't go away as hard as I try to push my mood up. Though I know I am not the cause of my brother's going to jail, he sent himself to jail, there is still a small part of me that feels terrible. So if today were a flavor of chocolate it would be Dark Bittersweet Chocolate.
